What is Rainbow Farm?

The Rainbow Farm Vision
to offer a permanent, loving, family environment in a unique setting to children that can no longer live with their families of origin as a result of abuse, abandonment or death of a parent
to actively encourage the adoption of children without parents into loving homes, especially those children in our care

to provide fun, freedom and relaxation for children in need who come to stay/visit
to offer a place of retreat, restoration and friendship in a beautiful natural environment to children's workers in the region
to act as a link between teams/ individuals from overseas and other local children's projects
to offer work opportunities/ placements to young adults who have been in the care of Rainbow Farm or other projects in the region
to nurture and empower a community, built on Christian belief and practice, which includes missionaries, volunteers, local workers and families with adopted children

What's on Rainbow Farm?

Accommodation on Rainbow Farm is currently in:

Orange House

It was with great joy and celebration that the first children to live permanently in the Orange House were welcomed onto the farm in July. The Orange House, which has been wonderfully used in the meantime to house volunteers and visiting children and missionaries, is now realizing the full potential of what it was built for. It is buzzing with the life the children bring, and Erica, Paula and the team are being kept extremely busy caring for the children and helping them settle into their new home, new schools and the farm community and life. For some of them this is a radical change from city life to enjoying the countryside including swimming in the river, playing football, horseriding, painting and fishing.

Farmhouse
Used for hosting children and workers who come to visit for weekends and holidays. This house is in a fairly basic condition, however we hope to modernise and improve this in the future
Red house
Where both long-term and short-term volunteers stay. This was the original shelter house, which has been extended, and was painted and the garden planted by a volunteer team in 2002
Violet house
Volunteer teams in 2004 helped with the painting, carpentry, and garden of the house where some of our farmworkers now live

Play areas on Rainbow Farm include:

Adventure playground

The adventure playground was sponsored by businesses and individuals in the UK and built by volunteers in 2004

Football pitch

Rainbow Farm's football pitch was built in 2005 complete with goalposts - and is enjoyed by children and adults alike, especially given the Brazilians' passion for the sport!

Games Room

Built from Rainbow Farm's own rocks, the roof joists were constructed by a volunteer, and is due to be roofed by Rainbow Farm's own tiles, made using the tile-making machine designed and built by one of our farmworkers
